Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales

The national celebration of religious education recognises the important contribution that religious education makes to the lives of young people today. Religious education provides opportunities to explore personal beliefs and values and to gain understanding of the issues that face religions and beliefs today. By raising and responding to challenging religious and human questions, it is hoped that young people will be better prepared to challenge intolerance and prejudice and to create a more positive future for all based on justice, equality and mutual respect.
