Posters for ChangeIntroduction
This activity encourage students to think about moral issues alongside sayings from a range of sources that express the diversity of viewpoints on the chosen issue. This is an excellent opportunity to focus on a particular issue and identify contrasting sayings, proverbs and quotations (including religious ones) that can be applied to that issue. The selection of ‘Wise sayings’ on the Celebrating RE website may provide a starting point but pupils will need to look beyond this to identify a good range. Activity
- Choose a subject from one of the following areas: war and peace, prejudice and discrimination, wealth and poverty, medical ethics (e.g. abortion, euthanasia, genetic engineering, organ donation), animal welfare, the environment.
- Create a 2 dimensional A2 collage of images to illustrate the issue
- Identify a range of contrasting sayings, proverbs and quotations (including religious ones) that could be applied to the moral issue
- Incorporate the wording into the collage (for example in the form of captions, a border or superimposed on images as headlines)
The collage should:
- contain a selection of images and sayings/texts that express a range of view points
- be able to be used as a resource to promote discussion in a secondary age RE context
