Celebrating RE is a month long celebration of RE in schools, colleges, universities, faith and belief communities and local communities throughout England and Wales. Its purpose is to celebrate the contribution that high quality RE can make to the education of every child and young person. It also aims to raise public awareness and understanding of the nature of RE as a subject which is relevant, challenging, interesting and of educational value to all, whatever their religious or philosophical background.
Celebrating RE is a bi-national festival organised by the
RE Council of England and Wales and inspired by the last such event in 1997. It is funded by donations from generous organisations and individuals (see
Our Sponsors). Planning and organisation are co-ordinated by a sub-committee of the REC, supported by part-time project officers an

d by many teachers, advisers, faith and belief community members, SACREs and others all over the two countries taking part.
